Western Light -- Datura

With summer comes the beautiful datura, happily blooming along roadsides or anywhere it can find a toehold. This delicate flower hides a dark secret: most parts of the plant are poisonous. Also called jimson weed, sometimes called loco weed, ingesting it can produce delirious states and death. It belongs to the loose family of plants known as witches' weeds, along with mandrake and deadly nightshade.
