Assistant Verde Valley Fire Chief Jerry Doerksen said the blaze, in this case, may have started from remains of a controlled burn that was not fully extinguished and re-ignited. Use caution as fire season approaches

VERDE VALLEY -- A wildfire raced through grassland near the Verde River Sunday but was extinguished before causing structural damage.
