As head of TNC’s Verde Program, Dan Campbell and his staff helped protect lands at the headwaters of the Verde rive through the purchase of land and conservation easements, including a 20-acre parcel TNC kept, which they now call the Verde Spring’s Preserve.

Dan Campbell: Three decades spent keeping the ark afloat

Shortly after Dan Campbell took the job of state director for The Nature Conservancy, he was sitting in his subterranean Tucson office when one of his staff shouted down the hall that there was a guy on the phone claiming to be the governor.
