The “Great Arizona Shake Out 2012” will help bring awareness to the dangers of those living near active fault zones. The Upper Verde watershed was the site of three decent sized quakes in 2011. Faults studied in the Paulden and Chino Valley are believed to have the potential for one of the 6.0 magnitude.

Great Shake Out gets land of 1,000 quakes prepared

It seems like a gross exaggeration, but Arizona experienced more than 1,000 earthquakes in a three-year period, between 2006 and 2009.
