Shop with a Cop
This year, Shop with a Cop kicks off at Cottonwood Police Department on Saturday at around 8 a.m. with the officers paired with the pre-selected children who have experienced tragedy or are less fortunate. The officers and children have breakfast together where they get to know each other. From there were head to Cottonwood Airport where Santa Claus flies in by way of a helicopter. After the children and police officers get to meet Santa Claus and have their pictures taken they all caravan to Wal-Mart, where the children get to go shopping.
Auction and lunch with Ladies Auxiliary
The Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 6739 in Camp Verde will be hosting an auction & lunch on Saturday at noon. They will be serving spaghetti, salad & garlic bread all for a donation of $5 a plate.
Come early & get your numbers for the auction & enjoy good food. The auction will start at noon. Proceeds will go to national military services & Cancer Aid & Research. Members & guests welcome.
Hams on Hawgs
The Hams on Hawgs benefit ride is Sunday, with kickstands up at 11:30 a.m. at Food City in Cottonwood. The benefit of the Modified Motorcycle Association of Arizona, Verde Valley District and Food City raises donations for the Old Town Mission and area food banks. Food City will also have 55-gallon drums for "Fill the Can."
Old Town Mission Toy Drive
The Old Town Mission is hosting an old-fashioned toy store for the upcoming Christmas season. Hundreds of children are at risk to not have a good Christmas without help. The Mission is asking for help stocking the Christmas Store so caring parents can pick out a gift to put a smile on their children's faces on Christmas morning. Please help them collect enough toys to bring joy to well over 500 needy children this holiday season.
If you would like to help by hosting a toy drive at your church or place of business, please let them know and they will provide collection bins and assist in pick- up of the unwrapped toys. If you are interested in helping, please call 634-2977. To donate an unwrapped toy, please drop it off at the Mission at 116 E Pinal St in Old Town Cottonwood. Toys will be distributed to Mission clients ages 0-18 the week of Dec 17-21.
Hanukkah celebration with JCSVV
Hanukkah begins at sundown on Saturday with the lighting of the first candle. Then on Sunday at the Jewish Community of Sedona and the Verde Valley (JCSVV), families will join with the congregation at the synagogue Hanukkah celebration beginning at 4 p.m. with lighting the second candle of Hanukkah. Traditional latkes (potato pancakes) and other food will be served and there will be songs, dreidle games and fun.

Christmas Eve at Haven UMC
Haven United Methodist Church in Jerome will have a Christmas Eve service at 6 p.m. Pastors Michael and Janet Keffer invite everyone to worship with us in this beautiful historic church, and celebrate the birth of our Savior. There will be a children's pageant, written and directed by Liz and Ann Rees. Following the candlelight service, join us for refreshments in the Fellowship hall.
Registration is now open for courses in the Fast-Track Management Program at the Yavapai College Clarkdale campus. The program is geared toward working adults in the Sedona, Cottonwood and Clarkdale area to build managerial skills, confidence and professional recognition. The courses will be taught on Thursday evenings in a six-week, short-course format starting Jan. 31, 2013, on the Clarkdale campus.
