Cowboys hope game 3 is more like game 1 than game 2
This week Camp Verde High School football will look to move on. The Cowboys won their first game at home against Chino Valley 40-14. Last week, they lost at Paradise Honors (Surprise) 39-13.Camp Verde plays Scottsdale Preparatory Academy this week.

New powerlifting records established
Aug. 24, 2014 saw Daniel "Dan the Man" Razo set three Arizona State Bench press Records and win his Division at the AAU "Spartan Iron Classic" held in Prescott Arizona. Razo, the newest Member of the Rec-N-CRU POWER TEAM, had three successful lifts of 155 pounds, 165 pounds and 175. All three lifts set Arizona State records in the Masters 1(40-49yrs) 275 pounds Disabled Division in this his first Power lifting competition.

CHINO VALLEY, Arizona - For the first time in Chino Valley High boys' soccer program history, the host Cougars on Saturday captured the Chino Cup tournament trophy in consecutive seasons.

Jerome Hill Climb 2014
More than 250 runners converged on Jerome to tackle the Jerome Hill Climb Sunday morning, one of the oldest continually run races in Arizona. The grueling race leads runners through the historic town and out to Perkinsville Road. The race is one of the signature events of the Arizona Road Racers and features an elevation climb of 1,076 feet over the 4.5-mile course. This was the 45th annual edition of the race. Cowboys thump Chino Valley
Year two of the Steve Darby era couldn't have started out any better for the Camp Verde High School football team. On Friday, the Cowboys beat the Chino Valley Cougars 40-14. Year two of the Darby era also couldn't have started more differently than year one did. Last year, the Cougars defeated the Cowboys 29-6.

Last year, the Camp Verde High School Cowboys went 3-7. Head coach Steve Darby is entering his second season with the team. Darby said his mission is change the culture. The second year of Darby starts Friday. Last Friday, the Cowboys had one final tune up in a scrimmage at Winslow, against both Winslow and Payson.

Soccer team hopes new season means new success
CAMP VERDE -- Last year, Camp Verde girls soccer didn't achieve the success it was hoping for. Head coach Pat Allen, who is in his seventh year with the program, said he is excited to change things this season.

"We didn't do well," Allen said. "We had some injuries, which really hurt us. We lost some games that we should have never lost."

National Champ:Cottonwood's Josh Reilly wins 13-15 USA Triathlon Youth & Junior National Championship
There are some athletes who can just do it all. Thirteen-year-old Josh Reilly may be one of those.

Josh is a triathlon athlete in running, swimming and cycling. Micah Swenson, head coach of the Aftershock Distance club, said Josh has shown great improvement as a runner.
