Help needy seniors at Christmas

Realty Executives is collecting and distributing new, unwrapped gifts to needy seniors throughout the Verde Valley this Christmas season. From now until Dec 12 the public is asked to bring in gifts of comfort items including blankets, socks, lotion and stationary items; handwritten notes are also greatly appreciated. The gifts will then be matched up to lonely or less fortunate senior citizens.

Prior to Christmas volunteers will drop off the gifts at local nursing facilities and private homes throughout the Verde Valley.

"A few years ago one of my colleagues ran a program, very similar to this one, to help spread Christmas cheer to those in the community who may otherwise be forgotten during the holidays," said Sylvia Ray, program organizer at Realty Executives. "I saw firsthand the joy these gifts brought, but since then that colleague has moved away; I wanted to carry on the tradition."

If you know of a senior citizen in need this holiday season then nominate them for a gift, or bring in a donation and help spread the holiday spirit.

Donations can be dropped off at either the Cottonwood branch office at 2825 Arizona 89A, or in Sedona at 1835 Arizona 89A #1.

To contact the organizers, volunteer support, or nominate someone for the program call Tim McDaniels, area manager, at (928) 274-0508 or Sylvia Ray, Cottonwood Office Manager, at (928) 300-1203.
