3/3/2011 4:03:00 PM 3 pounds of meth recovered on Interstate 17
Flodina Gallegos and Octavio Quezado
CAMP VERDE - Feb. 24 a Yavapai County Sheriff's deputy stopped a green Ford sedan for speeding near General Crook Trail on Interstate 17. The driver, 27-year-old Flodina Gallegos, passenger 45-year-old Octavio Quezado and the vehicle were from Colorado.
YCSO says Gallegos gave the cop confusing statements about travel plans and she and her passenger gave conflicting stories, making the deputy suspect they carried contraband.
After getting permission for a search the deputies allegedly found a loaded handgun behind the glove box. They also found a bag containing one pound of the methamphetamine in a void around the gearshift, according to the report. As a result, Gallegos and Quezado were arrested for transportation of dangerous drugs for sale and possession of a deadly weapon during a drug offense. Both were booked at the Camp Verde Detention Center.
Deputies further inspected the vehicle and a drug K9 alerted to the trunk area. Armed with a search warrant, the officers found two more one-pound bags of methamphetamine, one in the left and one in the right rear interior trunk panels.
Both suspects have since been released on a $50,000 bond each.
