Illegal immigrant population down sharply in Arizona
The number of illegal immigrants in Arizona is down -- much more sharply than the rest of the country.

New figures from the Pew Hispanic Center estimate there were 375,000 people in this state last year who either entered the country illegally or overstayed their legal visas. That compares with Pew's estimate 475,000 for 2008.

The effort to build a new library continues in spite of the forces working against it.

To date, the Citizens Committee for a Camp Verde Library has (depending on the shape of the stock market) somewhere around $330,000 in the bank. The Town of Camp Verde has another $370,000, give or take, in the Mary Lyons Fund, money donated to the Town for its library.

Horne may have edged out Thomas
Tom Horne appears to have clinched the Republican nomination for state attorney general.

With all of Maricopa County's ballot now counted, Horne late Saturday had an 853 vote lead over Andrew Thomas. And Thomas, the former Maricopa County attorney, was depending on the last of the uncounted ballots in the state's largest county, where he beat Horne, to carry him over the top.
