School personnel contracts to be spotlighted

Contracts and salary schedules are the focus of Tuesday's meeting of the Camp Verde Unified School District Governing Board.

The two-year contract forms and the contracts themselves for several administrators are up for discussion. That includes High School Principal/CTE Director Bob Weir, Middle School Principal/Athletic Director Danny Howe, South Verde Principal Steve King and Business Services Director Steve Hicks.

The district is searching for a new elementary school principal following the retirement of Debi Pottorff.

Also up for renewal are contracts for Support Services Director Stacey Barker, Food Services Director Ida Pieratt, Technology Director Aaron Moya and Federal Projects Director Debbie Witt. The board will also discuss the new contracts for psychologist Dr. Elizabeth Sanford, librarian Lisa Mina and high school counselor Jane Mathews and a work agreement for school nurse's aide Jill Ashley.

The board will discuss district salary schedules for certified and classified staff and contracts for the certified staff. There is an administrative recommendation to move all employees up one step on the salary schedule.

But there are also recommendations for non-renewal of contracts for some certified teachers and reduction-in-force (RIF) of a certified teacher.

Long-time district employee Hiram Buckley, the high school counselor, is leaving, as is woodshop teacher Cody Carter. The district is offering employment to elementary school teacher Boyd Cooper.

The board will receive an update on operational efficiency and a review of the annual audit.

The board meets at 7 p.m. on April 8 in the district library in the Multi-Use Complex, 280 Camp Lincoln Road.

I am sad to hear of Mrs. Pottorff's retirement. What a wonderful, level-headed, student centered leader she is! I loved working for her as a teacher! I know CVES will miss her greatly! God bless you, Mrs. Pottorff, as you retire!

The High School will loose a wonderful, giving AND highly qualified teacher in Cody Carter. Too bad he was moved from the position he was really qualified to teach, Welding! He was even able to certify students so they could go right from HS to working...didn't understand that move. But there must have been a reason. Anyway, Cody you will be missed!
