BEAVER CREEK -- Montezuma-Rimrock Fire crews were dispatched early Sunday morning to a report of smoke showing from Robbie's Restaurant at 3450 E. Beaver Creek Road.
Just after 4 a.m. crews say smoke and flames were coming from the rear of the structure. The captain declared a "working fire," which brought additional fire crews and units from neighboring fire agencies.
Verde Valley Fire, Camp Verde Fire, Sedona Fire and Verde Valley Ambulance Company and Yavapai County Sheriff's Office were soon on the scene. Crews quickly gained entry and began fire fighting operations, which contained the fire to the kitchen and storage areas.
At the time of the fire the building was not occupied and there were no reported injuries. The cause remains under investigation by the Verde Valley Investigative task force.
Reports say the operator was doing well and had just gotten his liquor license before the fire broke out.
The same building had more seriously burned in a fire about three years ago under different management.
Sunday, crews spent about six hours on the fire before clearing the scene. Sparks briefly rekindled late Sunday night and were quickly extinguished.
