Kirk Harris, 53, was sentenced on Sept. 13 by the Honorable Jennifer Campbell of the Yavapai County Superior Court, to a total of 10 years in the Arizona Department of Corrections, followed by lifetime probation and sex offender registration.
The sentencing resulted from a plea agreement in which Harris pleaded guilty to Attempted Sexual Abuse of a Minor and 2 counts of Attempted Sexual Conduct with a Minor, all Class 3 felonies, and considered dangerous crimes against children in the 2nd Degree. He also pleaded guilty to Furnishing Harmful Items to a Minor, a class 4 felony.
During the month of February 2012, the victim contacted the Sheriff's Office and reported ongoing acts of sexual abuse by Harris that occurred while the victim was a minor. These crimes took place in the Phoenix and Camp Verde area and were investigated by a detective from YCSO's Criminal Investigations Bureau. Harris was arrested at his Sedona home on Feb. 22, 2012.
The victim expressed gratitude for the efforts of the investigating YCSO detective and the work of the County Attorney's Office in prosecuting this case.
