9/24/2013 4:02:00 PM Camp Verde P&Z Commission to host General Plan work session
CAMP VERDE - The Camp Verde Planning and Zoning Commission will hold its third work session to update the Town's General Plan Thursday at 6 p.m. This work session is open to the public.
Camp Verde residents last ratified the Town's General Plan, a 10-year plan, on March 8, 2005. The Commission has tentatively planned meetings to be held through October 2014.
The Commission will continue to discuss the plan's Land Use element, one of the 10 elements in the Town's General Plan. According to Community Development Director Mike Jenkins, the plan must be re-adopted, updated or completely re-worked by 2015. Jenkins says the current plan only needs to be updated.
Camp Verde, approximately 42 square miles in size, has designated 15 different land uses in its Land Use element. The Town Council must approve any amendments to the General Plan. Those amendments, based on specific criteria, are categorized as either major or minor. Though an unlimited amount of minor elements may take place within the scope of a General Plan, major amendments may occur once each year.
Thursday's work session will be held in council chambers, 473 S Main St. #106.
