Sanitary District employees now working for Town of Camp Verde

CAMP VERDE - As of June 30, Camp Verde Sanitation District employees are now employed by the Town of Camp Verde. According to Russ Martin, Camp Verde Town Manager, the employees' greatest benefit with the change is in the benefits themselves.

The retirement deduction of Town employees is 11.5 percent, pre-taxed, matched in full by the Town. The money that employees contribute is vested from day one, with the Town's contribution vested at five years of employment.

"The employees are a little concerned about losing a bit of their income," said Jan Grogan, District Manger for the sanitation district. "But the retirement plan is a great benefit to them."

According to Grogan, the employees are still getting adjusted to the change in hierarchy. "But we'll have a lot more things available to us."

Sanitation district customers now have an additional place to make their payment, with a drop box located in front of Town Hall. Customers still can drop off a payment at the sanitation district, at 155 S Montezuma Castle Hwy, or by mail.

"Hopefully, being part of a larger organization will be useful to them," Martin said of the Town's newest employees. "We hope it is an upgrade in our services to them, including opportunities for job shifting that you don't have when you are not part of the organization. Hopefully, there will be even be a larger sense of pride. It's because of their hard work that we were able to take [this change] to the voters."

According to Grogan, the sanitary district "now has office hours in line with the Town office, but the way we do the work has not changed. I don't think the customers will notice the difference."

You need a more up to date picture of the employees that work out at the WWTP.
