South Verde High School junior Matthew Moore, 17, shown painting on a mural inside the Town of Camp Verde Community Center gymnasium, says he likes art because “you can do what you want with your artwork. It represents you.”

Joan Bourque, center, artist in residence at South Verde High School, helps SVHS students Kyle Delynne, 16, and Matthew Moore, 17, from left, paint a mural at the Camp Verde Community Center gymnasium on May 8. The Camp Verde Parks and Recreation Department, in conjunction with SVHS, has started a Visual Arts Field Program, helping selected students to participate in projects to create art that will benefit the Town, such as murals and painted logos. "I like that we can publicize our artwork and leave a mark," Kyle said. VVN/Bill Helm
