Tanker leaves roadway; nobody injured

RIMROCK - At approx 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Montezuma-Rimrock Fire District and Camp Verde Fire District crews responded to a report of a gasoline tanker that had left the roadway.

The incident occurred northbound on Interstate 17 at milepost 295. The tanker, carrying 8,500 gals of gasoline, veered off the right side of the highway and stopped approximately 150 feet into the desert. The tractor and trailer remained upright. The tractor sustained moderate damage. The trailer remained undamaged.

The driver, the only occupant in the vehicle, was transported to Verde Valley Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries. MRFD crews remained on the scene for several hours while heavy wreckers removed the truck and off-loaded gasoline.

Arizona Department of Public Safety shut down one lane of traffic to assist with the vehicle removal. There was no gasoline leakage.
