The hills will be alive with the sound of music as the Camp Verde Unified School District begins work on a joint school/community production of the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical The Sound of Music.
Now celebrating its 50th anniversary on stage, the musical tells the story of the Von Trapp family singers in war torn Austria at the beginning of World War II. CVUSD will be sponsoring a production of this family favorite musical on May 6, 7 and 8.
There will be auditions on Feb. 23, 24 and 25 beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Multi-Use Complex theater next to the Elementary School on Camp Lincoln Road. Auditions are open to all residents of the community. Parts needed include: the Von Trapp children, Maria, Capt. Von Trapp, servants in the Von Trapp home, friends of the Von Trapps, Mother Abbess and other nuns, officers in the German army, and townspeople.
Those wishing to audition should prepare a musical number no longer than two minutes and a short monologue. Those wishing to help behind the scenes with stage management, costumes and props, set construction, ticket sales, or other production related activities are also invited to attend auditions. For questions or more information please contact Helen Freeman at (928) 567-9220 or Megan Miller at the Middle School, 567-8014.
